June Christmas Card Challenge

For June's Christmas card challenge,  it's a colour challenge: Red, Cream and Gold.  These are the cards that I did for the challenge.  I used some cream and gold patterned paper, and adhered it to the base cardstock ( 3 Red, 2 Cream).  I took a sentiment from Quietfire Designs, and stamped it in either gold or red on the base card.  To finish, I adhered a Quickkutz poinsettia that was already assembled. Publication reject cards

These two cards I did for the PaperCraftsMag Holiday Card issue, with quick and simple cards.  These are easy cards to make, they only took me a bout 5 - 7minutes to make, once the idea in my head.  For the top card, I started with some Cherry Cobbler cardstock (SU), cut, scored and folded to a standard sized card. I rounded all the corners on the cardstock.  Taking some DCWV Luxury Stack cardstock in gold, I cut it to 3.75 x 5 inches for a mat on the base cardstock, again, rounding all the corners.  I used a Quietfire Stamp (When This Christmas) and stamped it on white cardstock in Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.  Using a Marvy 3 inch circle punch, I punched out the sentiment, and edged the circle in Wild Honey ink.  I finished the card by mounting the sentiment on the gold mat with foam tape.

The second card might seem a tad familiar, since I've done this sketch a few times before.  I just really, REALLY, love this sketch.  I started with some So Saffron cardstock (SU) and cut it so the card measured 5.5 x 4 inches ( I trimmed a .25 inch off so that I could get three cards done with one strip of patterned paper).  I used some Susan Wignet Christmas paper (Holly) and cut a 1.5 inch strip off the 12x 12 paper, cutting it at 4 inches, and adhered to the card base.  Next, I took the stamp "Blessed is the Season" (Quietfire Design) and stamped it on the bottom of the card in Forest Moss Distress Ink.  On some scrap white cardstock, I stamped the Ornament stamp (Hero Arts) in Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.  I used a 2 inch circle punch from Marvy to punch out the ornament.  I finished the card by foam mounting the ornament to the cardstock. 

LawnFawn

I got my first set of LawnFawn stamps late last week, and Tuesday was the first day I had to play with it.  I had won the Lunar Lights set,  and I've heard so much good about LawnFawn that I was eager to play with the stamps.

For the butterfly ATC, I was doing a Oh Canada! theme, and the flourish and butterfly stamp are Quietfire Design.  However, I didn't have a Quietfire stamp that was short enough (height wise) to fit in the space for the sentiment, so I used LawnFawn's "Shine Brightly" sentiment from the Lunar Lights set.. Let me tell you, I was very impressed with the clear, crisp impression of the LawnFawn
stamp.  I did wonder if I was just lucky, or if it was really as great as the first stamping.  I didn't take long to find out.

For the second ATC, I was making my Christmas ATCs, and I wanted to paper piece my present.  I took the box from Lunar Lights, and stamped it on patterned paper.  It stamped like a dream.  And the bow that came with the Lunar Lights set did well too.  Safe to say, I'll be buying more LawnFawn in the future. With this ATC, I stamped the star from Hero Arts in Shabby Shutters Distress Ink randomly over the grey/beige cardstock.  I layered a piece of DCWV cardstock from "The Four Seasons" over top, then I foam mounted my paper pieced present on the snowflake cardstock.  I stamped "Noel" (Unknown company) in the bottom right hand corner.

My "Daughter's" Going Away Card

Well, my "daughter" is leaving us come Monday April 4th for Manitoba.  She's actually my daughter's friend, but with the witness of my daughter and us, she became a Christian, and my husband and I have kind of taken her in as a "daughter".  Since she's moving to Manitoba permanently, I wanted to do a neat card for her.  I love this card , it's vintage, but still very clean and simple.

. Using some patterned paper, I stamped the HA classic Fabric stamp in versamark, then clear embossed. I distressed the paper in Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold and Tumbled Glass. I ironed off the EP, leaving the background. I rounded the corners. I took 4 circles of white cardstock in varying sizes, distressed the edges,, crumpled, then ran Tattered Rose Distress Ink on it. I took a big brad, inked it in black pigment ink, then embossed with Kaleidoscope EP. I attached the flower with the brad, and attached the flower to the scrapbook paper. I added the ribbon, then mounted the piece onto white cardstock, rounding the edges. I finished the card with "Journey" (Quietfire Designs) in chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.

Paper Craft Card rejects

These are some cards that I did to submit for publication to PaperCrafts Magazine, but they got rejected.  I submitted for sketched 6, 7, and 34.  I did do one for sketch 82, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it submitted in time to be considered.

For the sketch 6 card ( I have posted the cards in numerical order of the sketches) I started with 4.25 x 11 inches of white cardstock, scored at 5.5 inches.  I then trimmed 1.5 inches off of the front  of the card.  I stamped the sentiment "Friends" from Quietfire Designs in Shabby Shutter Distress Ink. I took some DCWV luxury stack cardstock, and cut a 1.5 inch wide by 6 inch long piece, and punched it with a Martha Stewart Doily edge punch.  I adhered the punched cardstock to the back of the card front, and trimmed to size.  I took a 1/4 x 6 inch piece of dark green cardstock ( DCWV) and taped it to the edge of the white card front. I finished the card with three large gems on the upper left hand side.

For the sketch 7 card, I started with 4.25 x 11 inch white cardstock, scored at 5.5 inches.  I took a piece of DCWV The Four Seasons cardstock, and cut it to 4 x 5.25 inches, and taped it to the base cardstock.  Using a 2 inch circle punch, I punched 3 circles in white scrap cardstock.  I stamped the star (Hero Arts) twice in Mustard Seed Distress Ink, and the Dove (Hero Arts) once in Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  I edged the three circles in the opposite colours the images were stamped in. I adhered the stars to the card front, and foam mounted the dove in the middle of the stars.  I  used the sentiment " Blessed is the Season" from Quietfire Designs and stamped that below the dove.

For sketch 34, I started with white cardstock, cut to 5.5 x 8.5 inches, scored at 4.25 inches.  I took Shabby Shutters Distress Ink and randomly stamped plant form Delicate Leaf Clusters (Hero Arts).  I then stamped the image again in Forest Moss Distress Ink. I took a 1.5 inch piece x 12 inch piece of DCWV Luxury cardstock and used the SU scallop punch on one side, cut to 6 inches, and foam mounted the two pieces onto either side of the  card front.  I  used a scrap piece of white cardstock, sponged it in Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, then edged it in Forest Moss Distress Ink.  I stamped "Get Well Soon" (Hero Arts) in Forest Moss, then double foam mounted it onto the card front.

For the last card, sketch 82, I started with some SU Certainly Celery cardstock, cut to 5.5 x 8.5 inches, and scored at 4.25 inches.  I used the Hero Arts friend Definition, and stamped that in Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, covering the entire front of the card.  I wanted to add some ribbon, so I made a small slot on the top of the card, and ran some sheer white ribbon through it..  I took some Luxury Stack cardstock, and drew the pattern that I wanted for it on the back.  I then traced it onto scrap paper, then copied it to the bottom of the piece of cardstock, so the wavy piece of cardstock would be the same thickness throughout.  Using some scrap cream cardstock, I  rounded the corners with a Marvy corner punch, and stamped Hello (Hero Arts) in Forest Moss Distress Ink, and adhered it to the bottom of the curve. Once that was done, I adhered the whole wavy piece to the card base.  I stamped the butterfly (Hero Arts) in Forest Moss Distress Ink, rounded the corners of the cardstock, and foam mounted it to the card front.

March Christmas Card Challenge

For this month's Christmas card challenge, you need to use Holly on your card.  I ended up making about 8 cards like this... I have to admit, I totally CASed this card from someone else, but for the life of me, I couldn't find her.  So if you see the blog post about it (it had decorating and some cards) please let me know, and I'll be happy to credit her for the idea.  I started with green cardstock for a base.  I cut the white layer to be  about 5 x 3.75 inches.  I took the Hero Arts Musical Background and stamped the white cardstock in Antique Linen Distress ink.  Using Vintage Sepia Versafine ink, I took the Hero Arts Classic Holly and stamped it in the right hand corner. I used a watercolour pencil in Mineral Green and coloured in the holly leaves.  I used red Stickles for the holly berries.  I added a bit of sheer gold ribbon on the left hand side, and finished the card by stamping Quietfire Design's "Blessed is the Season" in Satin Red Versafine.  I then adhered the white layer to the green card base.

Challenge Cards

These cards fulfill a couple of challenges.. one is the Queen of Hearts challenge that Suzanne at Quietfire is doing.  The other is the photo inspired  challenge HERE.  I took some DCWV scrapbook paper, and had a lot of fun with it.  On the top card, I used a Quietfire flourish heart and randomly stamped it all over some white cardstock. in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.  I then went over the whole piece with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  I then did the edging of the white cardstock in Barn Door Distress Ink.  I took the two doves and cut them out, cutting as close as I could.  I then added some vintage looking cream lace to the bottom right hand side of the heart, and attached both to the white cardstock.  I then used Barn Door Distress Ink and stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts).  To finish the card, I layered it on to dark green cardstock.

The second card uses another piece of the same paper.  I took a 3/3/4 x 5 piece of the scrapbook paper, and cut out the envelope that says "To the Keeper of my Heart".  I took a paper doily and and rubbed Barn Door Distress Ink on it. I cut the doily to fit in behind the cut out piece of scrapbook paper.  I then foam mounted the envelope on to the card.  To finish the card, I added the large flourish heart from Quietfire Designs, and I also added a key that I had gotten from a collage kit years ago.

ATCs!!

These are some ATCs that I did for a vintage collage swap.. when I'm in the mood, I try and get several months worth done at a time, and then I mail them off to the hostess.  Funny thing is, Blogger put them in reverse order.. The snow ATC is for January, the love for February, and the friend for March :)

PDCC54 and Card Pattern 89 Card

This is my card for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge, which was to use Stucco Orange, Celery Green and White as the main colours on a project.  The pattern on the card is from this week's Card Patterns challenge. For this card, I started with white cardstock for the base.  I used Versamark and stamped a flourish from Quietfire Designs.  Once it dried, I sponged Dried Marigold Distress Ink over top, purposefully leaving some areas whiter than others.  I had been given the orange and white patterned paper, so I made a layer on the now distressed cardstock base.  I added some celery punched cardstock along the bottom 1/3 edge of the card (the punch is Martha Stewart).  I used a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and punched two circles in celery green from patterned paper.  I stamped the flower twice in Dried Marigold ink (flower stamp is Hero Arts), punched it out using a 1 inch circle punch, and foam mounted it to the green patterned paper.  For the main image, I cut celery green patterned paper 1 1/2  wide by 3 1/2 inches long.  I cut the white cardstock 1 1/4 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches long.  I stamped the lady (Digital Princess Designs) in Onyx Black Versafine ink.   I foam mounted the lady on the green patterned paper, and foam mounted the green patterned paper onto the card.

CCC July Card that I made

This was my first month doing the CCC challenge on Deborah's blog HERE.  I still haven't received my card yet, but hey, it's Canada Post, it's supposed to be slow, right!?  I will say that the ladies who work in our local Post Office are WONDERFUL, and I am very thankful for them... some of the management decisions, however, make me shake my head in wonder..... oh well, back to the card I did.

There was a choice of a theme, sketch, or colour palette to work with for July, and I chose to do the sketch and theme of friendship. I flipped the sketch on its side, and used a Martha Stewart punch for the paper ribbon, and some sheer blue ribbon from Michaels for the top ribbon.  I used a Nestability to cut out the oval ( I don't own a die cut machine, but I have friends who do, and we even have die cut days at stamping).  I inked the oval in SU Bashful Blue ink.  The stamp, from Quietfire Designs, is stamped in SU Night of Navy ink.  I added some platinum Liquid Pearls for an accent at the bottom of the verse.

The person I sent this to has already received it, so I'm posting it now.  I am glad that she enjoyed the card. :)
