About Me

I am a new empty nester, and I love to make cards and ATCs. I am always looking for ways to use the product I have, to learn new techniques and ways to do things, and most of all, to have fun with the creating of my art.

Thank you card design # 3

Thank you card design #2

Thank You Cards made!!

Well, I was on a tear on Tuesday.  I need to make 24 Thank you cards for a wedding gift, and I managed to get 18 done.  I did 6 each of three designs. I am not sure which one was my favourite of the three.  My  sweet Hubby likes the rose card the best.  Now on to the last 6 cards!!

Tracy's April Christmas Card Challenge

Well, this month Tracy at http://tracyshappyplace.blogspot.com/ had a good challenge for us.. we had to use Patterned Paper ( or Designer Paper) as the focal point of the cards this month.  I don't have a lot of Christmas PP that would fit the bill, so I had to make due.  I used some poinsettia paper, and added some ribbon and an eyelet to fulfill the 2 embellishment requirement.  I do wonder if I should have made standard cards, rather than the 4 x 4 inch square, but I didn't have enough of the paper to do the required 5 cards.

Mojo Monday card

Today I did the Mojo Monday week 135 challenge.  the yellow c/s is through a Cuttlebug embossing folder, the fancy paper is Japanese, the words are SU, the bird is from Fiskars.

A Masculine Birthday card

I actually got around to creating today.  I needed to make a birthday card for my brother in law, but I don't have many stamps that are masculine.  So I brought out a challenge, the Crazy 4 Challenges, and my Hero Arts stamps.  This is the result.  The papers are from a dollar store somewhere, and I used the HA Friend Definition on the harlequin background.  I used a couple of shells from the Antique Engravings for the focal point of the card, and I used the Happy Birthday stamp from Essential messages.  I hope my brother in law is pleased with his birthday card this year.

A Bridal Shower Card

I have a bridal shower to go to this weekend, so today I made a card for the bride to be. It's out of my comfort zone, but I rather like it. The card opens from the top.  I used white c/s, and a black, white and silver patterned paper.  The tulip is from some chipboard I had.  I just used the frame of the tulip to draw on the back of the pink bling c/s.  The bird is from the new SU punch. I used two wings, and foam mounted the top wing for dimension. The verse is from one of the free sets SU did with their sale a bration.

Birthday cards I did

Here are a couple of birthday cards I did. The Tulips are from Lazarworks studio. I inked them in Pretty in Pink and Mellow Moss, then stamped on pale pink c/s. that was corner rounded and layered on some embossed Doodlebug c/s that I've had sitting around. I inked the embossed parts with Mellow Moss ink. I rounded the corners as well. This was all done on a base pink c/s, again, with the rounded corners... Kristina Werner is really rubbing off on me.

The second card is a sketch, and I can't remember which one. I suspect it's a Mojo Monday sketch, but I am not sure. I used a funky patterned paper on Apricot Appeal c/s base, corners rounded on both. I then took a piece of the Doodlebug embossed c/s and use a strip of it upside down on the flower paper. I added some sticker ribbon to the top and bottom of it. I rounded two corners and added two green flower brads (Making Memories). I cut a circle out of Apricot Appeal, and stamped a HA butterfly in pixie pink ink. I added a flower brad, then foam mounted it onto the flower paper.

This is one of the few cards that I've made that has NO STAMPING on it. I used a beautiful flower from some patterned paper for the focal point, used a rub on for the words, then just did the corners with a layer of Cool Caribbean, then mounted it on a black square, then mounted it on a glittery hot pink c/s. I added some sheer pink ribbon and some charms.

The weekend, another card

Well, I got to do some creating today... before my kid took sick and I had to finish baking the quadruple batch of cookies. I did the Mojo133 card sketch again, and I was pleased with the result. I also used Hero Art stamps (Hello from Essential messages, butterfly from Antique engravings) to do the card. It's quite different from my first card in the challenge, but I like it.

Hi!! I finally did a card that I'm going to try and upload. It's for Mojo133 challenge, and the C4C31 challenge in one card. I used Kraft cardstock as my base, then used Chocolate Chip ink to stamp HA Friend definition on it. I then layered 3 patterned papers together to make a couple of blocks, which I put on the card. I used some of the bright circle PP with a pink paper as a background for the ribbon. I used a Nesties die cut, which I distressed with Distress inks in Dried Marigold and Worn Lipstick. I stamped the HA butterfly (antique engravings) with Broken China ink. The Hello word (HA) was done in Cool Caribbean. Once the card was assembled, I added some light green bling to the card.
