About Me

I am a new empty nester, and I love to make cards and ATCs. I am always looking for ways to use the product I have, to learn new techniques and ways to do things, and most of all, to have fun with the creating of my art.

CAS-ual Friday Challenge 2

This is my entry for the CFC2 challenge this week, which was to use twine and buttons.  Well, I needed to make some Christmas cards, so I did.  I started with some Cool Caribbean cardstock, cut to 5.25 x 4 inches.  I used my SU paper piercing set to pierce around the edges of the card, having the pokey side up for the front.  After that, I ran my Broken China Distress ink over top of the raised cardstock, and I also did a bit of sponging on the edges of the cardstock.  Then I took some Antique Linen Distress Ink, and sponged some ink on some other spots.  I took the sentiment (Inkadinkado) and stamped it in Broken China ink.  I found some hemp twine, and ran three lengths of is across the Cool Caribbean cardstock, putting it at angles.  I used a now retired SU set to stamp the poinsettia on Antique Linen Distressed cardstock, in Tea Dye and the over stamp in Walnut Stain.  Foam tape over a section of twine I taped together made  the focal point.  To finish, I cheated and used three button brads that I had in my stash on the bottom right hand side of the cardstock.  I took a white cardstock base, sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink around the edges, then I foam mounted the Cool Caribbean piece to the sponged card base.

CAS Card

I wanted to do a CAS card, so I used a chocolate brown card base, cut and scored to a standard sized card. I cut some pale yellow patterned paper (WalMart) to 3.75 x 5 inches. I took my flower stamp (Inkadinkado) and stamped it in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I really wanted the flower to be the focal point of the card, so I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink to stamp the sentiment (Hero Arts). To make the card even softer, I rounded all the corners of the card base and patterned paper. I used some yellow ribbon (Michaels), wrapped it around the patterned paper, and tied a knot. Then I adhered the patterned paper to the card base. To finish the card, I added 5 yellow gems.

More Clean and Simple Cards

Here are a couple of CAS cards that I did this week.  The top card uses all Hero Arts stamps, some DCWV paper, some gold corrugated cardstock, Certainly Celery cardstock (SU), and Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I had cut some labels from white cardstock and gold corrugated ( I can't remember the label number, but it's a Spellbinders label).  While the white cardstock still had the die on it, I inked the middle with Old Paper Distress Ink.  I cut the gold corrugated cardstock with a larger size label. When I went to assemble the card, I stamped Musical Walk in Vintage Photo ink on the Old Paper label.  I rounded the corners of the DCWV paper, and  the Certainly Celery cardstock.  I layered the DCWV paper on the SU cardstock, then I added the labels, which were  already adhered to each other. I finished the card by stamping the Hero Arts Happy  Birthday in Peeled Paint.

The second card I did, I had much fun with.  I started with a white card base, then used Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp the sentiment 3 times on the right hand side.  I took a matching piece of patterned paper, and rounded two corners.  I used Black Onyx Versafine ink and stamped the Flower.  I finished the card by adhering the patterned paper to the card.  All the stamps are Inkadinkado.

Caardvarks CAS Card 03

This is another World Card Making Day card.  It's another CAS Card.  This time, I did a "Just a Note" card.  I used a Magenta/ Crafty Individuals poppy,  stamped in Onyx Black on white cardstock, coloured with dye markers, and mounted on black handmade paper.  This was placed on the left hand side of the card.... the white base card stock is cut 4.25 x 11, and it opens to the side.  I used a Hero Arts stamp for the "Just A Note" stamped three time in red marker.

Cardvaarks CAS Card 02

This is another Christmas card I did for World Card Making Day 2010.  I did another CAS card (Clean and Simple).  All stamps are Hero Arts.  I stamped the Peace stamp three times on white cardstock and cut closely to the edges.  I foam mounted them, spaced evenly, on a metallic blue note card ( from the dollar store).  I used Blazing Red Staz On ink all stamping.  I used a "Peace Love Joy" stamp onthe bottom of the note card.

Cardvaarks CAS Card 01

This is a card I did for World Card Making Day yesterday.  I used some dollar store note cards to do this card.  I used a Recollections Santa stamp for the image, stamped on white cardstock and mounted on the red note card.  I used a Hero Arts stamp to stamp "Merry Christmas" three times on the right hand side in Jet Black Staz On in. It is a card for the Cardcvaarks CAS challenge.
